The Australian International Airshow.

This major event will be a themed event and promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime aviation spectacular. It will feature an emotional and be moving tribute to our brave aviators of the past.

The Organisers of the Australian International Airshow have sourced a large number of historic warbirds from home and aboard to take part in the event. These faithfully recreated World War One replicas will perform simulated dog fights and other attack manoeuvres. The event will offer a unique opportunity to see these hardy old warriors of the sky go through their combat routines.

AIRSHOW will feature a vast array of the latest military heavy metal from Australia and overseas including supersonic jet fighters and attack helicopters. It will also boast a large number of vintage, classic and experimental aircraft and high flying barnstormers and precision stunt performers. Among the many attractions will be Night Alight, an after dark aviation spectacular with its totally breathtaking, fiery and explosive finale The Avalon-based event will also present a host of ground attractions and historic re-enactments. The Australian International Airshow represents great value for money and is a great day out for the entire family

Melbourne Writers Festival

Written by
Since 1986, Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) has been a cornerstone of the city's literary culture. The festival's success – and that of the city’s writers, publishers and all those across the industry – has provided the opportunity for Melbourne’s community of readers and writers to grow and prosper. Each year, MWF invites novelists, playwrights, poets, screenwriters, journalists, songwriters, bloggers – anyone who's part of the world of words. We host politicians and artists, policy wonks and pop culture icons, crime writers and high culture theorists. The festival program features an enormous range of literary activity including entertaining discussions, debates, readings, film screenings, interviews, literary banquets, performances, workshops and book launches, as well as a lively schools' program for primary and secondary students. To all of these events, we welcome hundreds of guests from around the world and across the country, meaning we’re able to celebrate the work of the writers you love and surprise you with those you never knew existed. At the heart of every program remains the opportunity for writers and readers to connect in unexpected ways. Join us for the 27th Melbourne Writers Festival which runs from Thursday 23 August to Sunday 2 September 2012

Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Written by

Melbourne International Comedy Festival

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival will celebrate its 30th year in 2016 and is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival.
An annual event, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival literally takes over Australia's comedy capital, Melbourne, each autumn with an enormous program of stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performance, film, television, radio and visual arts.
The Festival was launched in 1987 by Barry Humphries and Peter Cook. Twenty-six festivals later, with attendances of over 630,000, it has grown to be Australia's largest cultural event - selling more tickets than any other Australian Festival. With an average ticket price of just $27, the Comedy Festival is not only a hugely popular event but an extremely accessible one. When the Melbourne Town Hall precinct is converted into a giant comedy hub, there is something for every comedy lover, from the very best local and international comedy acts in venues of all shapes and sizes.
