Melbourne Lifestyle

Melbourne has consistently been voted one of the world's most liveable cities, and twice within the past decade, by an international panel of tourist advisors, as 'Number One'. It's pleasant temperate climate, its open acceptance and seamless blending of numerous cultures, its reasonable cost of living, fabulous modern and heritage architecture, legendary attractions, stunning parks, gardens, Walking and cycling tracks and outdoor facilities, make it a 'must see, must enjoy,' city by the bay – Port Phillip Bay. Known as the art and culture capital of Australia, Melbourne , with its population of nearly four million, is also widely acknowledged for having some of the most beautiful parks and gardens in the country. Situated on the Yarra River , Melbourne is the capital of Victoria, also known as the 'Garden State'. The City doggedly holds on to its green image; constantly pursuing and implementing new environmentally friendly methods, in order to minimise its carbon footprint. The result is majestic tree-lined boulevards connecting some of the most historic and resplendent parks that have been designed and impeccably maintained, for everyone's enjoyment, to some of the most extensive and scenic walking tracks and bike paths throughout Melbourne and its outer reaches. This combined with the City's extensive shopping, dining, entertainment, artistic and cultural activities and festivals make any visit a total experience.

One such experience can be found at Albert Park. Complete with a generous public Golf course, sports and aquatic centre, BBQ and picnic facilities, and situated at the north end of a picturesque lake, and a 4.5 kilometre, tree-lined walking track, is the extensive park and sports land of Albert Park. Home of the Formula One Grand Prix site, held every March, Albert Park constantly attracts large numbers of families, holiday makers, fitness and sports enthusiasts all year round. Its southern end connects with the dynamic dining and entertainment destination of Fitzroy Street , St Kilda, and a 7-10 minute walk to the pristine beaches of Port Phillip Bay. Here a continuous bayside walking track leads around the entire length of the Bay (100 kilometres), and its scenic suburbs, from the City to the Mornington Peninsula. Another all-encompassing adventure can be experienced at Studley Park, an open expanse of Australian native parkland adjoining Fairfield and Yarra Bend Parks, and situated just four kilometres from the City centre. It offers approximately 120 square kilometres of outdoor activities in scenic settings. Boating, walking and cycling tracks, open-air theatres, picnic and playgrounds, an iconic restaurant and little cafés, and even open air public talks and lectures are all there to be experienced. The quaint make is complete with farmyard animals and family days, plus a monthly Farmer's Market. Melbourne living is a joy. This is confirmed by its ever increasing population and diversity of cultures. It offers relative safety, peace and tranquillity in an uncertain world, a favourable climate and generally a good standard of living and a happy atmosphere. Its lifestyle is easy and relaxed. Its people are warm and friendly, well travelled and worldly, and openly welcome visitors. Melbourne has something for everyone. Its sights, sounds and smells are intoxicating, always leaving one wanting more. So come, take the next step and explore our town! Melbourne Tourist Guide - Home Page
